State Academy of Music and Dance

The State Academy of Music and Dance under the Department of Art and Culture was established in the year 1988 and inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri Hokishe Sema, on 14th July, 1988. It was established primarily to institutionalize indigenous music as well as to patronize western music by way of organizing training programs and performing arts in association with voluntary cultural organizations. The hall presently has seating capacity of 516 and is given out to the public on hire basis at the prescribed rate of the Department. The Hall has hosted many important events both private and government for organizing social gathering, seminars, meetings, concerts etc. in the interest of the public. The Hall is located at Old Minister’s Hill near the PHQ junction which is easily accessible to all.
