Promotion and Development of Visual Art

The Art Wing was initially inducted in the Art & Culture Service to cater visual presentations for research publications and the State Museum. With the passage of time, the need for Art promotional initiatives obligated the wing to shoulder all art related responsibilities of the Department. The unique identity of the State is rooted in a rich visual art heritage that needs to be preserved and promoted.

The art wing meets the dual purposes of preserving the visual art heritage and nourishing the creative talents of the state. Through the numerous art projects organized by the Department, the once dying Naga traditional art motifs have been revived vis-a-vis hidden artistic talents identified and guided in the profession. Collaboration and sponsorship of Lalit Kala Akademi, AIFACS, NEZCC have been availed by the Department to organize the art promotional programmes in the State.
