The Department is the nodal agency for preserving, promoting and showcasing the various facets of the cultures of the different Naga tribes. Over the years, the Department has participated in the inter-state exchange of cultural programmes sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Side by side, the Department has sent cultural troupes to participate in National events and Festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day and Apna utsav.
The Department has also participated in all programmes organized by NEZCC. Over the past years, several Naga cultural troupes were sent to Paris, Syria, Netherlands, USSR to participate in the ‘Festival of India’. Troupes were also sent to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. The Department organizes and manages the Cultural programme in the annual Hornbill Festival.
